Exterior House Paint in Banksia Beach

The team at Bribie Island Handyman Services was recently called out by a lovely couple in Banksia Beach to repair some cracks in their home's render, which had developed over time due to slab movement. As your local handyman, we took on the task with our usual dedication and care.

Our first step was to pressure wash the exterior of the home. It was a chilly day, and our crew braved the cold, getting quite damp in the process. Once the home was dry, we began the crack repair work. We started by scraping out the cracks to remove any loose render. We then used an exterior poly filler, which we sourced from Sunshine Mitre 10, to fill each crack. To ensure a seamless look, we matched the render with a stipple finish using a paintbrush to blend the repairs into the existing surface.

Crack repair in Render

For smaller cracks around window frames and sills, we used an exterior gap filler and again applied a stipple technique with a hard-bristled paintbrush to blend the filler with the render’s profile. This meticulous process, though time-consuming, was crucial for achieving a high-quality finish.

After completing the crack repairs, the clients asked if we could paint their home. Naturally, we were thrilled to take on this additional project and started planning right away. On Monday, we got started with the chosen color, Vanilla Candle—a slightly tinted white with a creamier tone. For the soffits, we selected a quarter Lexicon in a low sheen to provide a bright contrast to the walls.

Rain threatened our schedule, but the home’s multiple covered outdoor areas allowed us to proceed with painting unaffected spaces. We meticulously taped off all frames, fascia, and other non-painted areas using Scotch Blue tape, known for its superior adherence and clean removal.

We then cut in the soffits and ceilings with cutting-in brushes and 100mm 10NAP rollers, applying two coats of Dulux Weather Shield. Once the ceilings and soffits were done, we moved on to cutting in around the window frames, floors, and edges against the soffits. We worked in sections, closely monitoring the weather to avoid painting areas that might be exposed to rain. Though this extended the job, our commitment to quality ensured an excellent result.

The following week, as the rain finally eased, we completed the front of the property. Each square on the façade required careful brushwork to ensure complete coverage, and the rendered pattern just below the fascia was meticulously brushed to avoid rolling. We finished the project by spray painting the garage door with an airless spray gun for a flawless finish.

In total, the project took us 8 days to complete. The clients are thrilled with their newly refreshed home and have already received numerous compliments from passersby. A big thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work on this significant job—your effort truly made a difference!
