Patio Repair Bongaree

Updated: Jun 30

We were recently contacted by a beautiful couple from Bongaree who have lived in their property for 14 years.

Needless to say the weather had gotten the better of their pergola area over that period of time and it was due for a re-fresh.

We inspected the pergola and found that most of the timber beams had suffered sever wood rot. This generally occurs when the timber has not been sealed completely with paint, allowing water to enter the wood grain, keeping it damp and eventually softening and rotting.

After a brief discussion with the clients. We concluded that the entire section that was not under-cover needed to be replaced and so, operation wood rot took place.

Day one was spent demolishing the entire area and cleaning up to ensure a clean and safe work space.

During this time we discussed rejuvenating the fence which was a delightful brown in colour. The owners went off and decided that we should paint the fence in a finding silver (dulux colour).

We went to work and spray painted the fence in the clients requested colour using dulux weathershield. Which is made for exterior and direct UV surfaces.

Whilst we resurfaced the fence. The boys got to work painting each and every timber from top to bottom, allowing each individual piece to dry before a second coat was applied.

On the third day, we began to re-erect the pergola. We began discussing the possibility of increasing the height of the pergola and opening up the space a bit more however the clients really liked the sloping feeling of the roof as at lead towards the fence and decided to keep the similar profile.

One by one we installed the timber posts ensuring they were level and plumb.

We then etched out each bearer and ensured a snug fit to bolt it all together.

As the fence line was on an angle, each individual joist had to be measured, aligned and installed to suit each spacing. These were not consistent in size which made it fairly time consuming.

Once all the joists where in place, we were ready to install the rafters.

Surprisingly, this only took a few hours to complete and once up, we were nearing the end of the project.

A final touch up of paint and a complimentary pressure clean to put the finishing touch on the space and we were complete.

We all worked extremely hard on this one and the boys really made the biggest difference on this job. I couldn't have done it without them.

The beautiful clients are over the moon with the result and so are we.

Thanks for letting us complete this project for you Maree and Bob.
